Last Friday was a day I’ve been looking forward to for a long time: it was the day the final copies of my book arrived.
I’d ordered a few extra copies in preparation for a couple of author events I have coming up, so I had the books delivered to work. They arrived in a massive parcel and I got one of my team to film a little unboxing video for me.
I wanted to have something to share on social media, but actually I think that video is going to become one of my favourite mementos. I may have already watched it back a few times…
Guess what arrived today… 😮😮😮🔥🔥🔥 #writerslife #thedisappeared pic.twitter.com/6kbA6WaRuP

Holding an actual real-life copy of my book in my hands was surreal and utterly wonderful.
I spent Friday and most of the weekend in a haze of happiness and excitement, thrilled that all the years of writing and submitting, crowdfunding and editing are finally about to pay off.
So if you’re writing a book and hoping to get it published one day, do not give up! This moment is one that I’ve waited for most of my life and there were times I didn’t think it would become a reality.
But it has and it’s magical!
P.S. The Disappeared will be out on 2 May and you can pre-order it on Amazon, Waterstones, Book Depository and other places. It will also be serialised on The Pigeonhole from 10 May, so you can check it out there too!
